Conditioning Stone Surfaces- Japanese Knife Imports
Conditioning Stone Surfaces- Japanese Knife Imports Tube. Duration : 6.10 Mins.
In this video, we discuss how the condition of a sharpening stone's surface can effect your sharpening. We explain the difference between natural and synthetic stones in this regard. If you are wondering whether to leave the scratches on your stone's surface after flattening or clean them off with a nagura (or something similar), this video is for you. Our goal is to explain how these things function and what kind of results they leave, so you can make a more educated decision in your sharpening. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at Jon@JapaneseKnifeImports.com or look us up at www. JapaeseKnifeImports.com *The subject matter in this video is geared specifically towards kitchen knife sharpening. It can also apply to outdoor knife sharpening. However, straight razor sharpeners and woodworkers often require cleaner and smoother stone surfaces on the whole.

Sharp Fast Tool Guide Gouge Sharpening System Presented by Woodcraft
Sharp Fast Tool Guide Gouge Sharpening System Presented by Woodcraft Tube. Duration : 3.70 Mins.
Most turning tool gouges are sharpened on a grinder either free hand or with the aid of a "crutch" which makes it easier but not easy. You twist and turn trying to maintain the angle, "capture" the grind and stay on the stone. Not an easy task, until now. With the Sharp Fast™ Tool Guide, you can easily match, change or create any grind on any 1/4" up to 3/4" gouge and do it over and over with the same result. It also prevents "over grinding" with a unique measuring device which permits you to control the depth of the grind. Your tools will last longer and edge to edge be sharper than ever. Safety is unsurpassed because once you're locked in the guide - you'll never slide off the stone or have the tool ripped out of your hands. The Sharp Fast™Guide is fast, repeatable, accurate and safe. Turners at all levels benefit from sharper tools and this guide delivers.

Flint Knapping Stone Tools
Flint Knapping Stone Tools Tube. Duration : 4.05 Mins.
This is video from the Roots School Flint Knapping course in Central Vermont. The first evidence of human beings using rock tools is between two and three million years ago. Over such a long time the process of tool making has advanced from simple sharp edges and choppers to an art form of complexity and beauty. The flint knapping class begins by looking into how rocks break and which ones will provide the best tools. We cover the two main methods of shaping in flint knapping, direct percussion and pressure flaking, and briefly look at indirect percussion . Tools and materials are provided as we work on spalling, preforming, finishing and sharpening stone arrowheads and knives. Hand axes and large projectile points are also be demonstrated and taught. Flint knapping is a primitive skill that predates Homo sapiens, and has helped to develop our minds, cultures, and lives. Good materials and tools included as well as meals and a warm place to sleep. All the points and knives are made by head instructor Brad Salon.

Sharpening knives one of my favorite Japanese water stones. First under the edge with a black rotuladr to Assure that the angle along well. I start with a 1000 grit stone and the blade is not in bad shape and need not start with one of 400.Despues way to a 3000, then 6000 and finally made leather and black and white bark river home. The result is a blade that shaves and without scratching our knife. I hope you like it.

Strop
Strop Tube. Duration : 7.32 Mins.
I quickly makes a strop to use for my knives and to bring in to the field för sharpening my edge on occation. As I say in the film I think you will save the steel in the knife if you strop the knife some times before you resharpen it at the sharpening stone. The knife can still have its basic edge left even if it has become a bit dull. It's atleast worth a try to save the knife a bit.

Japanese Waterstone vs Ceramic knife sharpening
Japanese Waterstone vs Ceramic knife sharpening Video Clips. Duration : 7.70 Mins.
Japanese Waterstones - both natural and synthetic - are known for their quick-working qualities, not only for Japanese tools, but also for their Western equivalents. The small particles that do the cutting are loosely bound together in the stone, and so during sharpening, the surface particles are quickly washed out, allowing new, sharp, particles to start working on the blade. These waterstones must be lubricated only with water! Never use oil!

Bring Old Carpenter's Chisel Back to Life with Belt Sander • Complete Sharpening Series Video 6 Video Clips. Duration : 9.97 Mins.
AskWoodMan.com This is the sixthvideo in my complete sharpening series. In this series I will use the following tools and machines: Makita 9820 electric water stone with an after market sharpening jig, Bosch belt sander, Porter Cable belt sander, Mitutoyo combination square, General Sharpening Jig, DMT Diamond Stones, and various chisels, plane irons and scrapers. In this sixth video I take an old chisel and bring it back to life using a 4" X 24" belt sander and 120 grit paper. It's a good idea to grind as much as possible before taking your chisels to the diamond stones. This is a great alternative for those that do not own a Makita 9820-2 Horizontal Wet Wheel. You'll be amazed how quickly you can get your chisels back to a 25 degree bevel using this technique. The key is to have a light touch and also to keep the chisel steel from overheating. When steel overheats it can weaken and damage your tool. This will affect the hardness properties of your knife, which means it won't cut as well. This video is just one in the series where Allan Little shows all his sharpening techniques that he has refined in the last 25 plus years to attain the sharpest chisels, plane irons and scrapers. This series will show not only how to hone and sharpen using the diamond stones, but also how to grind on the Makita 9820 course wheel as well as belt sanders. This series ends with chisels, plane irons and scraper demonstrations. ______________________________________ Want to know which tools ...

Guitar Pick Construction Vid. #2 (new) - Get a new guitar or bass cheap at rondomusic.com Tube. Duration : 8.75 Mins.
Make a guitar pick out of easy to find thin plastic and superglue. The result is a tortoise shell-like pick that you basically can't buy anyplace so any comment saying something like: "you can get one cheep for a quarter" or "why those safety scissors" will be deleted. This is supposed to be a fun video and I don't want bullyshit like that, nor should you. If you want, you can also use a used thin plastick plate that you would eat on. You might have to sand it to the thickness you need when you make it. Another good thing to do is before you lightly sand the two pieces of plastic, is that you wash them; this is since regular superglue, and most glues, does not hold good when there is any oil on the surfaces. Material needed: 1. thin plastic 2. super glue if the plastic is very thin to glue two pieces together 3. scissors ..sp? ... www.spellingsociety.org 4. file (for metal, not a file for wood) The file I used here is a 8" Mill Bastard File (#21694 "Black Diamond" by Nicholson - CooperTools). This file can also be used for removing large amt. of metal from frets such as the angle at the edge. 5. sandpaper or sharpening stone(s) 6. polishing cloth or similar material such as suede 7. an old pick to trace if you want I also made a previous video about pick construction which has some information in it also. I decided to make a few guitar picks completely on my own, as clearly evident by unique "glue-up method" with thin-but hard flexable plastic, but there are some new ...

Nubatama Bamboo 2000 grit Stone - Amazing
Nubatama Bamboo 2000 grit Stone - Amazing Tube. Duration : 12.32 Mins.
In this video, I review the Nubatama Bamboo 2000 grit stone. This review was perhaps the single video I most dreaded doing. Taking a stone straight out of the box. One take to demonstrate why this stone is the most expensive out of the entire series of Nubatama stones to date! What could this stone possibly do to make it so valuable? I went into this thinking surely I would be disappointed. I figured that it might be the first stone where I might have to do several takes to try to determine what features might show it's worth. I was SOOO wrong! I was stunned in the middle of the video at what I saw and immediately 'got' it. It was all I could do to not say some exclamations that would contain profanities expressing my total surprise. It was like looking into the window of a mind that had influenced this stone's creation based on generations of knowledge and knowhow to create one of the most amazing synthetic stones I've had the pleasure to use! Yea, that good!! The knife I used in this video is a Takeda 311 mm wa sujihiki - traditional Japanese handle on a long slicer. This knife had many owners. I had previously thinned the edge to 3.0 degrees per side, followed by adding a 5.0 and then a 7.0 degree microbevel consistently over the entire length of the blade, something really beyond the capabilities of a freehand sharpener, using a device called a Gizmo. Since the last time an edge had been put on this knife it had developed a fine patina. Synthetic stones had been used ...

Guild Wars 2 PvP Ranger: Condition Domination
Guild Wars 2 PvP Ranger: Condition Domination Video Clips. Duration : 10.83 Mins.
This is my updated Condition Ranger build. Very effective as part of a group and capable of surviving 1 on 1 and 2 on 1 situations. The point of the build is to stack bleeds and burning as primary forms of damage. Bleeds tick for 97 damage, Burn for 384 and Poison for 84. Poison also decreases heal by 33%. Your pet will primarily apply poisons while you focus on burns, bleeds and using combos. I provide the build at the end of the video. How to use: Make sure you keep kiting at a distance. Keep Sharpening Stones on auto attack (control right click) to make sure its up as often as possible. Put down bonfire and throw axes through it to inflict burn. With this build, 36% of axe hits will cause a bleed for 5s. Use spike trap to stack additional bleeds or to cover your escape. If switched to shortbow, remember that the bleeds only stack if you hit your opponent from the side or behind. Rampage As One can be used to break stuns and/or escape if need be. Entangle can be used in place of Rampage As One as well. Pets: Use pets that inflict poison with their auto-attack to limit micro-managing. A good pet to use is the Devourer. Music: The Island by Pendulum. Footage from ArenaNet's Guild Wars 2.

Stone axe / adze - sharpening & test Tube. Duration : 2.33 Mins.
[2011 09 24] Making a stone axe / adze - part 2 : sharpening. Following Musteriano's advice (use water), I reshaped the edge of my first adze. And, now it can cut wood ! Adding water in the process really facilitates the grinding. (be cautious when you refine the edge, as grinding progresses fast on this part of the adze). It took me 3 hours to reshape the edge : inexperience, polissoirs too small and malformed, adze difficult to grip, curved shape of the adze's edge, ... Things to ameliorate : - bigger grinding rocks, - create depressions in the grinding rocks (in order to better hold the water and the sand) - finer quality of sand, - simplified adze shape : flat sides, straight edge

How To Sharpen an Axe by Wranglertar Video Clips. Duration : 14.70 Mins.
If the ax is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed but skill will bring success. Ecclesiastes 10:10 Tools for a Lifetime Axes are handy tools for chopping down trees, splitting firewood, hand hewing wood for building, camping purposes, and much more. Axes are no doubt useful tools, but a when an ax is dull it isn't very effective, and work is much harder than it needs to be. Everyone who uses an ax should know how to sharpen and properly care for it. Proper sharpening will lessen the time it takes to chop wood, and proper lubrication and care will help protect the metal blade. An ax handle often breaks after repeated use, so it's also helpful to also know how to replace the handle should it break. Knowing how to sharpen, care for, and store an ax will help it last for many years. How to Properly Sharpen an Ax A brand-new ax right from the store isn't usually as sharp as it should be, so even if it's new, you should sharpen it before the first use. To properly sharpen the blade of an ax you'll require a vise and a medium-grade mill file. Although it seems a power grinder would make sharpening easier, never use a power grinder. A power grinder can damage the blade. A mill file will allow for better control while you sharpen the blade. To sharpen the blade, begin by clamping the head of the ax with the edge facing up into a strong vise. Make sure the vise is securely clamped around the head of the blade. Knife Sharpening Tools and Techniques
Knife Sharpening Tools and Techniques Video Clips. Duration : 7.77 Mins.
Disclaimer* These are my tools and techniques! They may be different from yours! In this video I take a basic look at some of the many types of tools and many different techniques of knife sharpening. There are plenty of people out there with a lot of experience with knives, but for the person just getting into knives or the outdoors (where a sharp blade is necessary) it can be difficult to know when and how to sharpen the blade. Today I go over the methods and equipment that I use. I have found that the knife community is filled with great people just like the firearm community.... And on the opposite end of the spectrum it has just as many people who are 100% sure their way is the only way things should be done. Ignore the BS, do your research to figure out the best blade angles and what grind type your knife has and you'll be alright. As always get in touch with me if you have any questions or requests!

Building A Timber Frame Cabin Episode 11
Building A Timber Frame Cabin Episode 11 Tube. Duration : 9.47 Mins.
Follow Wranglerstar on Facebook for exclusive videos, pictures, & updates. www.facebook.com Episode 11 of the DIY Survival Cabin For Economic Collapse will cover fitting all four corner joints of the sill plate timbers. Working with big timbers is hard and a tight fitting joint takes a lot of time and concentration. The tools I'm using today are two Robert Sorby timber framing chisels. The large "slick" is very old and was givin to me by my old neighbor Hank. I sharpen my timber framing chisels each day before I start working on the frame. If you keep your tools sharp you work will go much smoother. The best sharpening stone I have found for small hand tools like chisels and axes is a 4" two sided stone manufactured by Norton. The two sided stone is more versatile with it's coarse and fine sides. Be sure to apply a few drops of Kerosene or Diesel to the stone. This will prevent the stone from becoming fouled with metal particles. You may also notice I'm using two mallets. The large orange mallet is from Harbor Freight and is shot filled. Filling a mallet head with shot prevents it from bouncing when you strike an object. The smaller red hand mallet is nice for working with the chisels because it does not glance off the wooden handles and is comfortable in the hand. You may have noticed the steel rods I inserted into the corner joints. This is to prevent the frame from coming out of square once I set each corner. I often get asked how are you going to move that cabin once ...
