Don't want to spend several hundred on the WEPS? Need something to take along that is easily portable & compact? The GATCO is the knife sharpener for you. I would not recommend the Lansky because the stones on the GATCO are wider & there are less things that complicate the variation in the angles so you will be getting cleaner even bevels. I've gotten certain parts of the edge hair whittling sharp so maybe with practice you could get the entire edge hair whittling sharp. (If you want hair whittling sharp knives everytime no doubt, you will have to get the Wicked Edge) This is a great 1st knife sharpener to get to learn the basics of getting a knife sharp. Well, I can say that Gerber has fixed the problem the the pommel, but the serration constituted a big issue for me personally. For .00 MSRP, (I paid ) you get a Whistle, Sharpening Stone, Fire Starter, Knife, and a Sheath that I believe is a step backwards from the LMF2. While some people are going to hate this knife others will love it. I say, it was not bad. I think if we dumped the serrations and focused on something more rugged to include the sheath we would be at a better place, but there are a lot of options for this price point.
