My review of the Bear Grylls Gerber Survival Sharpener BLUF, (Bottom Line Up Front) it is good enough for a Bugout bag but not some premium sharpening tool. For the I paid for it, NIB (New In Box), it does the job of being a field sharpening tool for emergency/bugout and survival purposes which is what it is labeled as. It could stand a few improvements like making both diamond grit coated sharpening rods rotate (only the small one does) as well as making the sheath into a handle extension but otherwise is good for keeping your knife sharp. THIS IS NOT A BENCH SHARPENING TOOL. The diamond grit will not last forever, the draw through sharpener is only a temporary sharpening implement. I recommend a good sharpening stone for your bench along with a good sharpening steel and a leather and canvas strop. Since all of that is quite heavy for a Bugout bag or rucksack, this tool along with a good double sided whet stone will have to do.

Knife Sharpening: Gerber Profile
Knife Sharpening: Gerber Profile Video Clips. Duration : 3.33 Mins.
Just sharpening my Gerber Profile fixed blade. I'm always learning and there are better ways to do this. Soaking the stone in water works better than oil, but keep in mind you'll need to keep re-soaking the stone to clean out the residue. Bear Grylls Gerber Ultimate KnifeTest, Equip 2 Endure
Bear Grylls Gerber Ultimate KnifeTest, Equip 2 Endure Video Clips. Duration : 23.90 Mins.
Well, I can say that Gerber has fixed the problem the the pommel, but the serration constituted a big issue for me personally. For .00 MSRP, (I paid ) you get a Whistle, Sharpening Stone, Fire Starter, Knife, and a Sheath that I believe is a step backwards from the LMF2. While some people are going to hate this knife others will love it. I say, it was not bad. I think if we dumped the serrations and focused on something more rugged to include the sheath we would be at a better place, but there are a lot of options for this price point.

Gerber Downrange Knife Sharpener
Gerber Downrange Knife Sharpener Video Clips. Duration : 4.32 Mins.
I saw this knife sharpener at the 2012 SHOT Show and just got one because I thought it would be good for my bug-out-bag. The first time I tried it was for this video, on my Gerber Prodigy, and it did an OK job. I think it's a convenient little sharpener for on-the-go, and it's pretty good for what it is. We'll see how it holds up.
